What is Flushing?
Flushing your weed plant is the process of feeding it with PH balanced water that contains no nutrients. We use flushing to remove nutrients from our growing medium to help it live a healthy life and grow to it’s full potential. It will also increase the quality of our final product.
How To Flush
Step 1
Let the water run for a minute and collect some water. Test the PH level of the water
If the water PH is greater than 6.5, use PH down to decrease the water PH until it is 6.5.
Step 2
Water your plant with the 6.5 PH water until some excess water is running off.
Use your TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter to test the run off for how many dissolved solids remain.
Continue pouring more 6.5 PH water until the run off reading are less than 50ppm (0.1EC)
When To Flush Your Weed Plant
Flushing Before Flowering
Flushing your weed plant is needed when it is time to switch from the vegetative state to the flowering state. The flowering state uses different nutrients so we need to reset the growing medium with a flush so it is ready to accept the proper nutrients.
Flushing Before Harvest – For Better Weed
We should flush our weed plant 10-14 days before harvesting to remove the nutrients from our plant. This is done to make sure our buds are not overloaded with nutrients at harvest time. We want the plant to use up all the nutrients it has stored within itself by the time we harvest to make the weed taste as good as possible. Flushing will also make your weed smoke less harsh.
Too Many Nutrients/Wrong Nutrients
Flushing will remove all the nutrients from the growing medium allowing you so start again with a clean slate.
Unknown Nutrient Problems
Flushing your weed plant is the number one protection from nutrient problems because it solves a variety of problems and may help even when the problem is unknown.
